In terms of pue, although some air cooling can also achieve the effect similar to that of liquid cooling, the cost is much higher than that of the latter. For example, due to the uneven pue in winter and summer, the annual redundancy must be taken into account in the initial stage of construction, which leads to the problem of excessive cost pressure in the initial stage of data center.
    However, the liquid cooling technology solves the short board of air cooling. In terms of subdivision, liquid cooling is divided into cold plate type and full immersion type. The former is favored by many data center operators who need to upgrade because of its low technical transformation difficulty and better connection with the air-cooled cooling system. However, due to the high cost of operation and maintenance in the later stage, the prospect of this method is not clear in the long run. Although the full immersion liquid cooling technology can not be connected with the traditional air cooling system, it has been applied in many new data centers, especially modular data centers, due to its good heat dissipation performance and simple maintenance in the later stage.

The data center should also treat the choice of coolant differently according to its own needs. For the data center, refrigeration is not the lower the temperature, the better, but should reach an optimal balance with economy. For example, the peak temperature of the CPU cannot exceed 90 °, generally 82 ° to 85 ° is the best working temperature. At this time, we should provide the corresponding ambient temperature according to this as its maximum working temperature, rather than blindly pursuing to reduce the temperature.
    In addition, the coolant must ensure five characteristics: insulation, non combustion, good chemical / electromagnetic compatibility and harmless to human body. In the life cycle, the fully closed working environment is adopted, with an annual loss of no more than 2G, and there is no leakage or rehydration problem. After the end of its life cycle, the treatment of waste liquid is also very critical. Electronic fluorinated liquid is used. The most basic index is insulation and non-conductive; The second is good chemical compatibility, which can not corrode the server and component materials or produce chemical reactions. The third is harmless; The fourth is electromagnetic compatibility, because the transmission characteristics of liquid are different from that of air. It is necessary to have good compatibility to ensure the signal transmission of the server. Another important point is that without ignition and flash point, there will be no combustion or explosion. In terms of waste liquid recovery, special chemical plants and waste liquid production plants complete the relevant recovery and treatment work.
