Product Description
The use of waste heat - be it from power generation in biogas plants, power plants or industrial processes - can contribute to improving efficiency in the use of primary energy.
Not only the time-discontinuous availability, but also the distance in space between energy source and heat consumer is often a major obstacle in the use of waste heat. If the ratio of the distance from the heat source and the heat consumers to the reacted energy is unfavorable, the construction of a pipeline system is not economic even if the heat source is continuously available. In this situation, a distribution system based on transportable thermal energy storage devices can be useful.
Product Feature
waste heat to wanted energy
-PCM TES energy storage system
-larger heat storage ability, cost-effective
-less comsumption
Product Specification / Models
Low temperature heat that cannot be used on site, e.g. from industrial processes, is to be transported by means of a mobile heat storage to a distant consumer. A technical prototype of such a storage system will be constructed and tested. Measurements are done in order to gain experience with long-term stability and to identify potential for optimization.
Other Information
In parallel, more efficient storage configurations are developed. Up to date, the long loading and unloading times prevent an economic operation of known systems. Permeable beds of heat storage materials could resolve this issue. Macroencapsulated phase change materials TES for use in direct contact to flue gas are to be developed in the waste heat energy restored project
